Why SEO is Important for Manufacturing Businesses

Feb 20, 2021

It’s no secret that search engines are incredibly powerful pieces of technology. Google is the most commonly used out of the search engines, and if you’ve ever used Google you’re well aware of how good they are at bringing you relevant search results whether you’re just looking to learn something or if you’re looking to purchase something. Appearing as close to the first spot as possible in search results almost always will win you a good chunk of credibility from potential customers, and today we’re going to go ahead and take a look at why search engine optimization for manufacturing is so important for your business, and how it can help.

Gaining Credibility and Trust

When you search for a question, especially on Google, the first thing that pops up will almost always be a snippet answering your question, as well as a small “people also ask” section. By appearing either in this main snippet or in the other questions Google provides you become that much more credible by default.

For instance, let’s say you own a paper manufacturing company, and someone wants to know how paper is made. They go to their search engine and search “how is paper made” and see the first result explaining the process. If that first result is a paper company, it sets them apart from their competitors because they were the ones that answered the question, and because google decided that their answer was the most relevant to their question.

That doesn’t mean you’re out of the running yet though, and this is where the People Also Ask section comes into play. It’s likely that there’s a whole lot of questions that Google will present as related questions, and there’s also a good amount of credibility to be earned from those questions. SEO can help you be the company that answers that question for anyone that’s searching for it.

While it is true that it’s impossible to know exactly why someone is looking up this information or to differentiate between someone who was just curious about the process or a potential customer looking for a company to make paper for them, it’s still useful to have this top spot. Even if one out of ten people searching for this are potential customers if they see that you are able to provide a clear, concise answer and that Google finds your website relevant enough to put at the top of the search results there’s a good chance that you’ll be able to start off with a strong good impression.

Of course, you can also just put out Pay Per Click ads around the internet, and many companies do use this tactic but it’s only one part of a solid strategy. While SEO doesn’t give you much insight into the intent behind someone’s search, Pay Per Click ads send out a much larger net that you have even less control over. It’s kind of like playing roulette. You have a specific color and number in mind, and all you can do is hope that the ball lands in the right spot. It is a useful tool, but when combined with other strategies like SEO it can be made a lot better.

Another useful thing for gaining credibility that can come with SEO is making sure that your website is SEO friendly. If you hire a company to do this for you, in most cases they’ll take a look at your website and make sure that it’s something that could get to the top of the search results. For instance, your website has to be full of relevant information and easy to navigate. This helps search engines decide if you’re relevant while also making your website more trustworthy to potential customers. Most customers decide if a company is trustworthy based on its website and if it’s difficult to navigate or is full of irrelevant information it may be difficult to get their trust.

Finding a Higher Conversion Rate

While it’s to be expected that you’re going to have visitors on your website that have no interest in doing business with you, like students doing research or other curious types, when you have a strong SEO presence you can almost always expect to see a much higher conversion rate. The more trustworthy and relevant a potential customer sees you, the more likely it is for them to do business with you.

Getting More Organic Leads

Many, many companies undergo SEO campaigns every day. In fact, even the largest companies you can think of have teams of SEO specialists This includes companies like Amazon, Coca Cola, and even manufacturing companies like Volkswagon and Toyota. In the current era, a good search engine optimization campaign is almost required to make sure that you get as much organic traffic to your website as possible. The more people that intend to find your company, the more likely you are to make the sale.

For the most part, people want to buy the things they need. Whether it’s a pair of socks or a company to manufacture airplane parts, people that need the goods or services will always look for what they need. The internet has made this process a lot easier than it has been in the past, all you have to do is a quick search and you can find everything you need in an instant.

SEO and Manufacturing, An Easy Upper Hand

If your competitors haven’t already gotten a good SEO campaign then getting one will give you an edge in online sales very easily, and if they have already done one it’s definitely something you may want to consider to keep up. It’s unlikely that the internet is going anywhere, and as long as there are search engines there will be techniques to get you to the top of the search results. Most companies do find it a worthwhile investment, and there is a high likelihood of a good return on investment when you get a good SEO campaign going.
